ある日、使い古されたそのハンカチーフを見たときに、母に「もうボロボロになってきたから捨てようよ」と言うと、「娘にもらったハンカチーフはどんなにボロボロになっても捨てられない」と言われました。
特別高級なものでなくても母にとって特別なプレゼントになっており、母のことを想って選んだ私の気持ちが届いたようで嬉しかったです。

One day, when I looked at that well-worn handkerchief, I told my mother that it was getting so tattered that she should throw it away, but she told me that she would never throw away a handkerchief given to her by her daughter, no matter how tattered it got.
It was a special gift for my mother even if it was not a particularly expensive one, and I was happy that my feelings seemed to have been conveyed as I chose it with her in mind.
